William Friend - Director

Will has a background in agricultural engineering having studied at Aberystwyth University. He has developed the Wedgewood Groundworks business over the last 12 years through his enthusiasm and understanding of heavy plant and machinery. He has a keen interest in machinery innovation which has resulted in the diversity of the business.  Williams interests outside of work are hockey, cars and spending time with his family, Rhiann, Winnie, Percy and Ellis.

Ian Friend - Operations Director

Ian Friend is a chartered surveyor with over 8 years of experience in the construction industry, having worked for Strutt and Parker and Savills as a specialist development surveyor.
  Ian hails from Malawi, Africa where he grew up and is a qualified safari guide, working in the South Luangwa national park for over 4 years together with setting up a successful borehole drilling company with his wife. Now with Wedgewood, Ian helps out with project and contract management alongside Will. Ian is married to Lucy and they have a two children, who take up most of his spare time!


Sharon Routley - Finance Manager

Sharon worked alongaside Will at Wedgewood Buildings prior to the Groundworks business starting.  Once Wedgewood Groundworks was formed she took on the daily running of the office. Throughout the years the company has grown substantially and Sharon now focusses on the financial side of the business. Sharon has a keen interest in horses and the countryside. When not at work Sharon spend most of her spare time with her husband Stuart and two children Jack and Oliver.


 Faye Reed - Administrator

Faye joined the company in 2017 as an administrator who studied Business Administration. Faye deals with the daily office jobs, purchasing materials, sub contractors qualifactions and the up keep of the website. When not at work, Faye is usually on her horse or enjoying the countryside with her friends and family.


Andrew Friend - Health & Safety Advisor

Andrew Friend has worked for thirty-five years with the World Bank and United Nations in agricultural and veterinary projects in Africa and the Balkans. He has recently retrained in health and safety (SMSTS qualification level) to join the Wedgewood Groundworks team to assist in the site supervision of health and safety for our staff. Interests include farming, shooting, football and rugby, and looking after our eight grandchildren. He also enjoys working part time with the charities – Send a Cow, Amigos Uganda and the North Devon Hospice Trust.
